  1. 1 Tech & Electronics

Samsung 65-Inch Class S85H Series, OLED, 4K, Smart TV, 2026 Model

Samsung's 2026 entry OLED in the 65-inch size, for a living room that wants OLED contrast and a TV that also suits a console or gaming PC.

The S85H is the first rung of Samsung's 2026 OLED range. It runs on the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor, with a 120Hz motion setting, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos and Object Tracking Sound Lite. For games it is NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and supports AMD FreeSync Premium, and Samsung lists it for up to seven years of Tizen OS upgrades.

The step up is the S90H, which Samsung lists with a glare-free screen and its Ultimate Gaming Pack; the S95H adds Art Store on top. If the TV faces a dark or evenly lit room, the S85H gives up little that you would notice day to day.

Worth knowing No glare-free screen treatment on this model, so a room with a window facing the TV is better served by the S90H. Samsung's page lists HDR10+ but not Dolby Vision.

  2. 2 Tech & Electronics

KEF LS50 Meta Passive Hi-Fi Bookshelf Speakers, Carbon Black | Passive Hi-Fi Bookshelf Speakers | Home Theater Speakers | High-Resolution Sound for Music, TV and Movies

A pair of compact passive bookshelf speakers for someone building a stereo around an amplifier they already own or plan to buy.

The LS50 Meta is a two-way bass reflex speaker built around KEF's 12th-generation Uni-Q driver: a 25 mm aluminium tweeter sitting in the centre of a 130 mm aluminium cone, so treble and midrange come from the same point. Behind the tweeter is KEF's Metamaterial Absorption Technology, a maze-like part meant to soak up sound from the rear of the driver. Over the original LS50, KEF also lists a reworked, offset flexible port.

Each cabinet is about 30 cm tall and 7.8 kg, and the box holds a pair. KEF quotes 79 Hz to 28 kHz (plus or minus 3 dB), 8 ohms nominal and 85 dB sensitivity.

Worth knowing These are passive: they need an amplifier, and KEF recommends 40 to 100 W. With 85 dB sensitivity a very small amp will struggle. Stands are sold separately.

The fenix E 47 mm pairs a 1.3-inch AMOLED display with a stainless steel bezel, Gorilla Glass and a fibre-reinforced polymer case, and weighs 76 g on the silicone band. Garmin lists up to 16 days as a smartwatch (6 with the screen always on) and up to 42 hours with GPS. It has preloaded road and trail maps, ski resort maps, and the usual multisport, swim and training tools.

What the fenix 8 adds, by Garmin's own comparison: a built-in LED flashlight, voice features (speaker and mic), dive functions, an ECG app, and titanium and sapphire options.

Worth knowing No flashlight, voice or dive features, which are the main reasons people pay for a fenix 8. Garmin also now sells the newer fenix 9 line.

  4. 4 Kids & Toys

Melissa & Doug's Chef's Kitchen has a fridge and freezer with a working ice maker that drops two toy ice cubes, an oven and stovetop with turning dials, a microwave with a turning plate, and a sink with a faucet that moves. There are movable hooks, a grocery checklist and shelves for tidying away.

Assembled it is about 3.5 feet long and just over 3 feet high, wide enough for two or more children to play at once. It is FSC certified wood, and the same kitchen comes in Cupcake and Cloud colours if charcoal doesn't suit the room.

Worth knowing It arrives flat and needs assembly. Play food, pots and dishes are not in the maker's list of what comes with it, so plan on those separately.

  5. 5 Tools & DIY

DEWALT 20V MAX Orbital Sander, Tool Only (DCW210B)

DeWalt's 5-inch cordless random orbit sander, for someone already on 20V MAX batteries who wants to sand furniture or trim without a cord.

The DCW210B is a brushless 5-inch random orbit sander with variable speed from 8,000 to 12,000 orbits per minute. It takes standard 5-inch, 8-hole hook-and-loop discs, and comes with a one-handed locking dust bag. The dust port fits DeWalt's own dust extractors directly.

It is a good fit for refinishing a dresser, prepping cabinet doors or smoothing trim, where a cord tends to snag on the edge of the work. For stripping large floors or decks, a corded sander still makes more sense.

Worth knowing Tool only: battery and charger are separate. A shop vac with a 1-1/4 inch hose needs DeWalt's DWV9000 connector, also sold separately.
