Garmin vivoactive 5 GPS Smartwatch
A GPS fitness watch with a bright AMOLED screen and Garmin's sleep and recovery tracking, for people who want more than step counts.
$169.99Shop on AmazonLowest price we've postedPrice as ofThe vivoactive 5 is Garmin's all-round fitness watch: a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, built-in GPS, more than 30 preloaded sports apps, and Garmin's health tools, including Body Battery, a sleep score with coaching, and heart rate variability status. Garmin rates the battery at up to 11 days as a smartwatch and about 21 hours with GPS on. It is rated 5 ATM, so swimming is fine, and it has Garmin Pay, music downloads from Spotify, Amazon Music or Deezer, and a wheelchair mode.
It suits someone moving up from a basic tracker who wants real workout data without a bulky outdoor watch. People who hike off-trail and want maps on the wrist should look at Garmin's Forerunner or Fenix lines instead.
Worth knowing The vivoactive 6 has replaced it. Garmin lists a brighter screen, a smart wake alarm and a few new training features on the newer model, with the same battery life.

Ring Floodlight Cam 2K (newest model), Wired, Home or business security, Wide-Angle Retinal 2K Video, 6x Enhanced Zoom, Ultra-Bright Floodlights, White
Ring's current wired floodlight camera with 2K video, for a driveway or back yard that needs both light and a camera.
$99.99Shop on AmazonPrice as ofThis is the second-generation Ring Floodlight Cam, now sold as the Floodlight Cam 2K. It records 2560 x 1440 video with up to 6x enhanced zoom and a 140-degree horizontal view, and two warm-white floodlights put out up to 2,000 lumens, adjustable down to 200. There is two-way audio with noise cancellation and a siren you can set off from the app.
It replaces an existing outdoor light fixture, so it suits homeowners with a junction box where they want the camera. The Pro version adds radar-based 3D motion detection and a louder siren; renters and anyone without wiring in place are better served by a battery or plug-in model.
Worth knowing It is hardwired and joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. Without a Ring subscription you get alerts and live view, but recordings are not saved.

12" Tramontina Signature Tri-Ply Clad Stainless Steel Frying Pan
A 12-inch fully clad stainless frying pan from Tramontina's Signature line, for searing and everyday cooking that goes into the oven.
$34.98Shop on AmazonLowest price we've postedPrice as ofThe Signature fry pan is tri-ply clad: an aluminum core between two layers of 18/10 stainless steel, so heat spreads across the base and up the sides. It works on gas, electric, ceramic glass and induction, goes in the oven up to 500°F, and has a riveted stainless handle with a hanging hole. Tramontina says it is NSF-certified and dishwasher-safe, though it recommends washing by hand.
Twelve inches is the size for cooking for three or four people or getting a good sear without crowding the pan. Someone who mostly cooks eggs for one or two will find a nonstick pan easier day to day.
Worth knowing Stainless steel sticks unless the pan is preheated and oiled first, and a 12-inch clad pan is heavy to lift one-handed.

Canon PowerShot V10 Compact Vlogging Camera
A pocket vlogging camera with a 1-inch sensor and a wide fixed lens, for solo creators who film themselves at arm's length.
$299.00Shop on AmazonPrice as ofThe PowerShot V10 is built around a 1-inch back-illuminated sensor, much larger than a phone's main camera sensor, behind a fixed f/2.8 lens that is about 19mm wide in full-frame terms for video. It records 4K at up to 30 frames per second and has a built-in 3-stop ND filter for bright days.
It suits someone who films talking-head clips, travel diaries or livestreams and wants a dedicated camera that is easy to carry. Anyone who needs to zoom in on distant subjects should pass: the lens has no optical zoom.
Worth knowing It came out in 2023. 4K recording needs a fast memory card, which is not in the box.

A battery-powered light box for kids 6 and up who like drawing, with tracing sheets and pencils in the box.
$11.99Shop on AmazonPrice as ofThe pad lights up from underneath so line art shows through the paper, and a locking frame holds the sheet in place while a child traces. The pink set comes with a graphite pencil, 12 short colored pencils, 10 tracing sheets and 10 blank sheets, and Crayola has more than 100 tracing images to print from its site.
It is a quiet, screen-free gift for a child who already likes drawing and coloring, and it travels well for car rides. A child who has outgrown tracing may lose interest quickly.
Worth knowing It runs on 3 AA batteries, not included. Extra sheets beyond the starter pack need printing or a refill pack.

12-Piece CRAFTSMAN Screwdriver Set (CMHT65130)
A 12-piece Phillips and slotted screwdriver set from Craftsman, for a first toolbox or replacing a mismatched drawer of drivers.
$19.99Shop on AmazonPrice as ofThe CMHT65130 set has five Phillips drivers in sizes 0 to 3, including a stubby size 2, and five slotted drivers from 1/8 to 5/16 inch, plus an offset screwdriver and a magnetizer/demagnetizer. Craftsman says the black oxide tips are magnetized and 20% stronger in a standard torsion test, and the handles have textured grips, a shape that stops them rolling off a bench, and hanging holes.
It covers most household jobs: furniture, outlet covers, hinges and battery doors on toys. Anyone working on electronics needs precision drivers, and Torx or square-drive screws need bits this set does not include.
Worth knowing No Torx or square drivers, and no case or rack to keep the set together.
