The Barista Express grinds, doses and brews in one machine. It has a conical burr grinder with 16 settings that grinds straight into a 54 mm portafilter, a thermocoil heater with PID temperature control, and a manual steam wand for milk. Shots run from one-cup and two-cup buttons or fully by hand.
It suits someone willing to spend time adjusting grind and dose: the result depends on the user far more than with a pod or fully automatic machine. Breville includes single-wall and dual-wall filter baskets in one-cup and two-cup sizes, along with a stainless milk jug, tamper, dosing funnel, trimming tool and cleaning kit.
Worth knowing It is a manual machine: you tamp, watch the shot and froth the milk yourself. By Breville's measurements it is about 16 inches wide and 13 deep, so check the counter space first. This listing is the brushed stainless finish.
