All-Clad is known for pans, but it also sells a line of forged knives, and this is the 8-inch chef's knife from it: the general-purpose shape for chopping vegetables, slicing meat and mincing herbs. The blade is fully forged from X50CrMoV15, the stainless steel most German-style kitchen knives use, with a 26-degree total edge and a triple-riveted synthetic handle. All-Clad lists it at about half a pound.
It suits someone replacing a tired block-set knife with one better blade. If you prefer a lighter Japanese-style shape, the same line has a 7-inch santoku instead.
Worth knowing Designed in Pennsylvania but made in China, according to All-Clad's own page. Hand wash only, and dry it right after washing.
