For most people the right power bank holds 10,000mAh, puts out 45W from one port and carries its own cable, and the one to buy is the EcoFlow RAPID 10K: its USB-C cord pulls out of the body and retracts, it fast-charges any current phone, and it lists under $50. Buy a magnetic one if you have an iPhone and hate cables, and a 25,000mAh one only if you need to charge a laptop.
The capacity on the box is not what reaches your phone. Makers quote milliamp-hours at the voltage of the cells inside, and some of that energy is lost in conversion and heat on the way out. INIU's own rule of thumb is to multiply the capacity by 0.65: a 10,000mAh bank gives an iPhone 17 about 1.8 full charges, not three. Anker's spec sheet for its 25,000mAh laptop bank works the same way, counting on about 65 of its 90 watt-hours reaching your device.
Flying is where the numbers turn into rules, and the rules got stricter this year. The FAA lets you carry a power bank of up to 100 watt-hours in the cabin and never in a checked bag. Since March 2026 the international rules allow two per passenger and forbid recharging them during the flight, and Southwest now allows one. Every pick below is under 100 Wh; the callout further down has the details.
We compared more than twenty power banks from Anker, EcoFlow, INIU, Ugreen and Baseus using each maker's product page, spec sheet and FAQ, weighing the numbers that decide daily use: watt-hours, weight, the most one port can deliver, how fast the bank refills, and whether the cable is built in. The ones we passed over, and why, are at the end.

EcoFlow RAPID Power Bank (10K, 45W, Retractable Cable)
- Capacity
- 10,000 mAh
- Weight
- 8.1 oz (230 g)
- Max output
- 45 W

This is the power bank to leave in a bag and forget about until you need it. Its 10,000mAh is the size that covers a long day: EcoFlow says it charges an iPhone 17 to half in 19 minutes, and by the 0.65 rule of thumb it holds close to two full phone charges. It weighs no more than 230 grams (8.1 ounces) and measures 3.5 by 2 by 1.5 inches.
The cable is why it beat the other 10K banks we looked at. A 2.3-foot USB-C cord pulls out of the body and winds back in, so there is no cable to forget at home and none to untangle. That cord and the bank's two ports make three outputs, and the strongest gives 45W, enough to fast-charge any current phone and to keep a tablet going. A display shows the charge left as a number rather than four dots.
The near-twin is Anker's Nano Power Bank (10K, 45W) with the same retractable-cable idea, the same 45W and the same 30W recharging. Anker's is a little smaller and lists for about 40 percent more. Against the INIU SnapGo Air below, you give up magnetic charging for a cable that works with any phone, earbuds case or tablet.
Good
- A 2.3-ft USB-C cable pulls out of the body and retracts
- 45W from one output: full speed for any current phone
- Shows the charge left as a number
- Lists under $50
Worth knowing
- Refills at 30W at most, and EcoFlow doesn't publish a full-recharge time
- At 1.5 inches, the thickest 10K shape here
- EcoFlow doesn't say how the 45W splits when three devices charge at once

- 10,000 mAh
- Weight
- 6.9 oz (195 g)
- Wireless output
- 25 W (Qi2.2)

If you carry an iPhone 12 or later, a magnetic bank is the easiest kind to live with: it snaps onto the back of the phone and charges it with no cable at all. The SnapGo Air is the one to get. It supports Qi2.2, the newest version of the wireless charging standard, which lets an iPhone 16 or 17 take 25W without a wire.
It is half an inch thick and weighs 6.9 ounces, lighter than the EcoFlow above with the same 10,000mAh. When you want speed, the short USB-C cord attached to the bank gives 45W, and its two USB-C ports let it charge three things at once: the phone on its back and two more by cable. A small display shows the charge left.
Read INIU's fine print before you buy. The 25W rate needs an iPhone 16 or later updated to iOS 26, and leaves out the 16e and 17e; older iPhones charge from it at the slower speed they support. Wireless charging also loses more energy than a cable, so expect fewer refills when the phone rides on the magnet. Anker's MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro does the same 25W job with a cooling fan, a stand and a bigger screen, at twice the list price.
Good
- 25W magnetic charging on an iPhone 16 or 17 (Qi2.2)
- Half an inch thick and 6.9 oz
- 45W through its attached USB-C cord
- Charges three devices at once
Worth knowing
- 25W needs an iPhone 16 or later on iOS 26; older iPhones charge slower
- The magnet fits iPhone 12 and later; other phones use the cord
- The attached cord is only 0.4 ft (12 cm) long

3Thinnest and lightest
Anker Nano Power Bank (5K, MagGo, Slim)
- Capacity
- 5,000 mAh
- Weight
- 4.3 oz (122 g)
- Thickness
- 0.34 in (8.6 mm)

Half the capacity buys a bank you stop noticing. The Nano 5K is 0.34 inch (8.6 mm) thick and weighs 4.3 ounces, a little over a third of an inch on the back of an iPhone. Its 5,000mAh is roughly one top-up for a current phone by the 0.65 rule: enough to get from a dead afternoon to bedtime, not enough for a weekend away.
It charges magnetically at up to 15W, the Qi2 rate, and by its single USB-C port at up to 20W in either direction. Anker says it keeps the case below 104°F while it works, which matters for something pressed against the back of a phone in a pocket.
Pick it over the SnapGo Air when size matters more than capacity. It is 2.6 ounces lighter and about a third thinner, but it holds half as much and charges an iPhone 16 or 17 at 15W rather than 25W.
Good
- 0.34 in thick and 4.3 oz, the slimmest and lightest here
- Magnetic charging at up to 15W (Qi2)
- Anker says the case stays below 104°F
Worth knowing
- 5,000mAh is about one phone top-up
- 15W wireless, not 25W, on the newest iPhones
- One USB-C port, 20W at most
All specs
- Capacity5,000 mAh
- Weight4.3 oz (122 g)

4Best for a laptop
EcoFlow RAPID Power Bank (25,000mAh, 170W, Built-In and Retractable Cables)
- Capacity
- 25,000 mAh (90 Wh)
- Weight
- 20.5 oz (580 g)
- Max single output
- 100 W
Paid link. We may earn a commission; your price is the same.
A laptop changes what a power bank has to do. It needs 65W or more through a single port and several times a phone's battery, and the RAPID 25K covers both: 100W from a single output and 90 Wh inside, which EcoFlow says is one full charge for a MacBook Pro or four to five phone charges.
Those outputs are two USB-C ports and two USB-C cables built into the body: a 26-inch (67 cm) cord that retracts and a 10-inch one that doubles as the carrying strap. With two in use the total is 170W, enough for a laptop at full speed and a phone beside it. The 100W input matters as much. With a 100W charger it refills to half in 26 minutes and to full in 80, so a layover is long enough to win most of it back. A color screen shows the charge, what each port is drawing, temperature and battery health.
At 580 grams (1.28 pounds) it is a bag item, not a pocket one. Anker's Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W) is the same design down to the two cables and the 100W input, at about the same list price; it is 15 grams heavier and adds a USB-A port, which the EcoFlow lacks. Buy the Anker if you still charge anything with a USB-A cable.
Good
- 100W from a single output, 170W across two
- Two USB-C cables built in, one retractable
- Refills to 80% in 53 minutes on a 100W charger
- 90 Wh: under the FAA's 100 Wh line
Worth knowing
- 1.28 lb: it lives in a bag
- No USB-A port
- The fast refill needs a 100W USB-C charger
All specs
- Capacity25,000 mAh (90 Wh)
- Weight20.5 oz (580 g)
- Max single output100 W
- Total output170 W
- Recharge input100 W
- Full recharge80 min at 100 W
- Size6.2 x 2.1 x 1.9 in
- Outputs2 USB-C ports, 2 built-in USB-C cables
- Cables26 in retractable, 10 in strap

5Most power you can fly with
Anker Prime Power Bank (26K, 300W)
- Capacity
- 26,250 mAh (99.75 Wh)
- Weight
- 21.2 oz (600 g)
- Max single output
- 140 W
Paid link. We may earn a commission; your price is the same.
This one is for people who work from a 14- or 16-inch laptop on the road and want as much power as the rules allow in a single bank. Its 26,250mAh is 99.75 Wh, a quarter of a watt-hour under the 100 Wh line above which the FAA requires your airline's approval. Anker says it holds 0.8 of a full charge for a MacBook Pro (M4).
Each USB-C port gives up to 140W, and the total across both and the USB-A port is 300W, which Anker says keeps two MacBook Pros running at full speed. Anker says it charges a MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) to half in 27 minutes. Recharging is the other headline: through both USB-C ports at once it takes 250W and reaches half in 13 minutes, provided you carry chargers that can supply that much. A screen and Anker's app show what each port is doing and let you cap the output.
At 600 grams (1.32 pounds) and 6.3 by 2.5 by 1.5 inches, it takes up a little less room than the EcoFlow RAPID 25K and holds about 11 percent more energy, but it lists for almost twice as much and has no built-in cable. Buy it only if 100W is not enough. A MacBook Air, or any laptop that came with a 65W or 100W charger, gets its full speed from the EcoFlow.
Good
- 99.75 Wh: just under the FAA's 100 Wh line
- 140W from either USB-C port, 300W in all
- Refills to 50% in 13 minutes on 250W of input
- Screen and app show and cap each port's output
Worth knowing
- Lists for almost twice the EcoFlow RAPID 25K
- The 250W refill needs two strong USB-C chargers
- No built-in cable
- 1.32 lb
All specs
- Capacity26,250 mAh (99.75 Wh)
- Weight21.2 oz (600 g)
- Max single output140 W
- Total output300 W
- Recharge input250 W over two ports
- Size6.3 x 2.5 x 1.5 in

How to choose a power bank
Start with what you charge, then read four numbers and look at the cable.
Capacity. A 5,000mAh bank is one phone top-up. A 10,000mAh bank is close to two full charges for most phones and covers a long day or a short trip. Between 20,000 and 27,000mAh is for a laptop, a tablet and a phone together, or a weekend without an outlet. Bigger than that and you are past what an airline lets you carry without asking.
Watt-hours. Milliamp-hours only compare banks fairly when their cells run at the same voltage. Watt-hours don't have that problem, and they are the number airlines go by. The FAA's formula is the milliamp-hours divided by 1,000, times the cell voltage: a 10,000mAh bank at 3.6 to 3.85 volts is 36 to 39 Wh. Most makers print the figure on the bank's label.
Output from one port. Look for the most a single port delivers, not the total. A phone charges at full speed from 20 to 45W. A laptop needs at least what its own charger supplies, usually 65 to 100W and more for the largest laptops, through one USB-C port. A 45W bank will charge a 65W laptop, slowly, and may only slow the drain while it works hard.
Input. A bank is only useful if it is full. One that takes 30W needs about two hours on the wall to refill 10,000mAh (Anker's figure for its 45W Nano); the 100W EcoFlow RAPID 25K refills two and a half times that capacity in 80 minutes. Check that your wall charger can supply the input the bank is built for.
The cable. A built-in cable is the one you can't leave at home. For an iPhone, magnetic charging is the other way to skip it: Qi2 gives 15W, and the newer Qi2.2 gives 25W to an iPhone 16 or 17.
Check the power bank you already own
A power bank is a lithium battery, and several have been recalled for overheating. Anker's June 2025 recall covered models A1257, A1647, A1652, A1681 and A1689, plus one version of its PowerCore 10000, and its recall page lists them. The model number is printed on the bank's label.
The FAA says a recalled or damaged battery must not be carried on a plane at all unless it has been made safe. If yours is on a recall list, or it has swollen, cracked or started to get hot while sitting idle, stop using it and follow the maker's instructions for disposal. The Consumer Product Safety Commission keeps the full list of recalls for every brand.
What we left out, and why
- Anker Nano Power Bank (10K, 45W, retractable cable). The same idea as the EcoFlow RAPID 10K, a little smaller and with a fuller spec sheet, but it lists for about 40 percent more.
- Anker Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W). The EcoFlow RAPID 25K's twin, with the USB-A port the EcoFlow lacks. Pick it if you still use USB-A cables.
- EcoFlow RAPID Pro (27,650mAh, 300W). 99.54 Wh, a 140W cable built in and 320W recharging, and it lists for less than the Anker Prime 26K. It is also 99 grams heavier, which is why the Anker took the slot.
- Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro. The same 25W magnetic charging as the INIU SnapGo Air, with a fan, a stand and a bigger screen, at twice the list price.
- Ugreen MagFlow Air (10,000mAh, Qi2 25W). It does the SnapGo Air's job and lists for more.
- INIU Carry P50. INIU's smallest 10,000mAh bank at 5.6 ounces, but it refills at no more than 20W, and we couldn't match it to one exact Amazon listing.
- Baseus PicoGo AM61 and AM52. Baseus's own pages give different thickness figures for the same model, so we couldn't compare them fairly.
- Anything over 100 Wh. Above that line every flight needs the airline's approval, which defeats the point for most travelers.
Questions people ask
How many times will a 10,000mAh power bank charge my phone?
Fewer than the numbers suggest. Some energy is lost turning the bank's cell voltage into what the phone takes, so INIU's rule is to multiply the bank's capacity by 0.65 and divide by the phone's battery. For an iPhone 17 that is about 1.8 full charges from 10,000mAh. Charging wirelessly loses a little more.
Can I bring a power bank on a plane?
Yes, in your carry-on only, never in a checked bag. Under FAA rules a bank of up to 100 Wh needs no approval, and one between 101 and 160 Wh needs the airline's approval, two at most. Since March 2026 the international rules limit you to two power banks and forbid recharging them in flight, and some airlines, Southwest among them, allow only one. Check your airline before you fly.
How do I find a power bank's watt-hours?
Look at the label on the bank: most makers print the watt-hours there. If only milliamp-hours are given, the FAA's formula is to divide them by 1,000 and multiply by the voltage. A 10,000mAh bank at 3.85 volts is 38.5 Wh; a 26,250mAh bank at 3.8 volts is 99.75 Wh.
Can a power bank charge a laptop?
Yes, if one USB-C port can deliver what the laptop's own charger does. A laptop that came with a 65W charger needs a bank with at least 65W from a single port; a 45W bank charges it slowly, and may only slow the drain while the laptop works hard. The EcoFlow RAPID 25K gives 100W per port and the Anker Prime 26K 140W.
What does Qi2.2 mean on a magnetic power bank?
Qi2.2 is the newest version of the Qi2 magnetic wireless charging standard. It raises the wireless rate from 15W to 25W, but only on phones that support it: INIU lists the iPhone 16 and later on iOS 26, without the 16e and 17e. Older iPhones still charge from a Qi2.2 bank, at their own slower rate.
