The Sawyer Squeeze is a hollow-fiber filter rated at 0.1 micron absolute. You fill a pouch at a stream or lake, screw the filter on, and either drink through it or squeeze clean water into a bottle. It also threads onto standard 28mm bottles and can sit inline on a hydration pack hose or hang as a gravity filter. Sawyer says it removes bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella and protozoa such as giardia and cryptosporidium.
This kit has two reusable collapsible pouches, a cleaning plunger for backflushing, gravity tubing, inline hydration pack adapters and a mesh carry bag. It suits hikers, campers and anyone putting together an emergency kit. For treated tap water at home it has no job to do.
Worth knowing Sawyer's page makes no claim about viruses or chemicals, so it is for backcountry freshwater where those are not the concern. It needs backflushing with the included plunger to stay clear.
