The Borealis has been around for about 25 years and is built around the women-specific FlexVent harness: shaped shoulder straps, a rounded back panel and a removable waist belt. Inside there is a padded laptop compartment, a front section with zip pockets and a tablet sleeve, plus a fleece-lined pocket for sunglasses or a phone. Outside are two bottle pockets and a bungee cord for a jacket. The body is recycled nylon ripstop with a water-repellent finish.

It suits someone with a shorter torso who finds unisex packs ride wrong. If you want a standard fit, look at The North Face's unisex Borealis instead.
