27L The North Face Vault Laptop Backpack (Cedar)

Why we picked it

One of our picks for Friday, October 16, 2026. We haven't tested it. How we pick

The Vault is The North Face's simplest laptop daypack: about 27 liters, a padded sleeve for laptops up to 15 inches in the main compartment, a front pocket for smaller things, and the FlexVent suspension with padded shoulder straps and back panel. It stands up on its own, which makes packing it on a floor or a desk easier, and carries an American Chiropractic Association endorsement.

It suits a student or commuter who wants a no-fuss bag. Those who carry more, or want more pockets inside, should look at the larger Jester or Recon.

Worth knowing This is the classic 27L Vault; The North Face also now sells a redesigned 28L version, so check the color and size listed. It holds a 15-inch laptop at most.
